A thoughtful conversation about sexual wellbeing
Your questions about desire deserve care.
When changes in sexual desire feel distressing, start with a private conversation about what has changed and what matters to you. Bremelanotide is one specific prescription option to understand—not a universal answer for sexual wellbeing.

Vyleesi® medication · public cash-price example
Starting at $99per 4-dose box · eligible manufacturer offer
The manufacturer lists a $99 four-dose box for eligible prescribed patients without Vyleesi coverage, through its BlinkRx pathway. A four-dose box is a quantity, not a monthly subscription.
The offer requires a prescription and manufacturer/pharmacy eligibility. Vyleesi has a specific indication for certain premenopausal women with HSDD; this is not a general sexual-performance offer. Seine Bio prescribing scope, supply and final patient cost must be confirmed before payment. Membership is separate.

Bremelanotide / PT-141.
A clearer overview.
Clinical decisions require assessment.
Vyleesi has a specific approved indication. Seine Bio clinical scope and pharmacy availability remain unconfirmed.
The biological question.
Bremelanotide is a melanocortin receptor agonist. The approved product, Vyleesi, treats acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder in certain premenopausal women when low desire is distressing and is not explained by another medical or psychiatric condition, relationship problems or medication. It is not approved for men, postmenopausal women or sexual-performance enhancement.
The story behind the name.
Bremelanotide is also discussed online as PT-141. Vyleesi received initial U.S. approval in 2019 following development that included the RECONNECT trials. A research-labelled vial or compounded version is not the FDA-approved autoinjector simply because it uses the same molecule name. Understanding the actual product and indication is part of an informed conversation.
The two randomized, placebo-controlled phase 3 RECONNECT trials evaluated bremelanotide in premenopausal women with HSDD. They measured desire and distress within a defined population. Those findings should not be broadened into a promise of stronger performance, better relationships or a benefit for everyone who has a sexual-health concern. The original paper and current label provide useful context for a clinician discussion.

Dose depends on the exact product, route, indication and individual care plan. These references are educational.
| Preparation / context | Dose reference | Frequency | Duration / cycle | Evidence & source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VYLEESI · Approved prefilled subcutaneous injection | 1.75 mg; labeled timing at least 45 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. | As needed; no more than one dose/24 hours; more than eight doses/month not recommended. | Stop after eight weeks without symptom improvement. | FDA-approved product labeling Premenopausal women with acquired, generalized HSDD under label criteria Read the source |

Risks & uncertainties
What deserves attention.
- Common effects include nausea, flushing, headache, vomiting and injection-site reactions.
- Blood pressure can rise temporarily and heart rate can fall. Uncontrolled hypertension or known cardiovascular disease are contraindications.
- Focal skin darkening can occur and may persist.
- Review pregnancy, contraception and other medicines with the clinician, including oral naltrexone. The full label contains additional precautions.
Clinical & regulatory context
Where this pathway fits.
- A clinician first evaluates what may be contributing to the concern and whether the specific indication fits. The website inquiry is not a diagnostic tool.
- You can ask about sexual wellbeing without sharing intimate details on the website. Keep personal history and clinical answers in private intake.
- If Vyleesi is not appropriate, ask about a different assessment or care pathway. Do not choose a product based only on an online nickname.
- Confirm prescribing scope, actual availability, the exact product, separate medication cost and follow-up before enrolling in any treatment program.

Your questions.
A clearer starting point.
Take a moment to understand the practical differences, limits and next steps.
Is this a general PT-141 program for anyone?
No. This page explains a specific approved medication and its limited indication. It does not advertise research vials or promise a prescription for men, postmenopausal women or performance enhancement.
Is a clinical inquiry private?
Your inquiry collects basic contact details only. Keep diagnoses, sexual history and medication information for the appropriate clinical intake.
Does the membership price cover the medication?
No. Optional membership is $20/month and provides product savings and qualifying shipping benefits. Medication, labs and clinical services are separately priced. Confirm availability and exact costs before payment.
Could therapy be part of my options?
Therapy may be a separate option when appropriate, with its own goals, intake and fees. Paid membership is not required. This does not imply that therapy or a medication will resolve every sexual-health concern.
Does optional membership include this medication?
No. The optional $20/month membership provides product savings and qualifying shipping benefits. Medication, labs, clinical services and therapy are separately priced. A free account lets you request review without paid membership. Existing plans and purchased session credits retain their original terms.
