Selank.
A clearer overview.
Start with the research. Keep your goals in view.
Research topic. Selank is not an FDA-approved medicine for anxiety, depression or improved focus. This page offers education and a care discussion, not Selank treatment.
What makes it interesting.
Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide related to tuftsin, an immune-signaling peptide. Laboratory work explores changes in neurotransmitter-related signaling and gene expression. These proposed pathways are interesting research questions; they do not establish a reliable anxiety treatment or cognitive benefit for an individual.
The story behind the interest.
Selank emerged from Russian peptide research and has been investigated as an anxiolytic. A 2008 study compared it with medazepam in people with generalized anxiety disorder or neurasthenia. Its research history helps explain its online following, while also showing why a small, older study needs careful interpretation.
Evidence before expectations
Read beyond
the headline.
A useful research discussion includes the study design, the population and the outcome measured.
Read the original sourcesThe 2008 study enrolled 62 patients: 30 received Selank and 32 received medazepam. The authors reported similar anxiety effects. This is a human clinical signal, but it is a small comparison study rather than a large, modern placebo-controlled evidence base.
A 2018 molecular review describes several possible biological pathways. Molecular activity does not tell us how much a person will improve, how durable an effect will be, or whether a commercially sold preparation matches the material studied.
The practical question is whether your symptoms have been properly assessed and what options have the strongest evidence for your situation. Anxiety, poor sleep, difficulty concentrating and persistent exhaustion can overlap; an online peptide label cannot sort them out.
| Research setting | What the record shows | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Small human comparison | A 2008 trial compared Selank and medazepam in 62 patients. | Does not establish broad effectiveness or long-term safety. |
| Mechanism research | A molecular review explores neurotransmitter and gene-expression pathways. | Does not demonstrate clinical benefit from an online product. |
| Clinical decision | Your symptom pattern, history and priorities need individual assessment. | A research result is not a diagnosis or prescription. |
Understand the evidence
Understanding doses
and cycles.
A clear reference for your conversation with a clinician.
Research doses describe a specific study, not a treatment plan. Online popularity does not establish safety.
| Preparation / context | Dose reference | Frequency | Duration / cycle | Evidence & source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Selank | Not established for this proposed wellness use | Not established | No validated human on/off cycle | Evidence limitations Non-U.S. reports do not establish an FDA-approved U.S. dose or a validated wellness cycle. Read the source |
Swipe or scroll sideways to see every column. There is no universal peptide cycle. A published trial, a product label and an informal online protocol are different kinds of information.

Risks & concerns
What deserves attention.
- FDA identifies immune-response concerns and incomplete human safety information for Selank acetate.
- Intranasal, oral and injectable products are different exposures; evidence for one cannot be assumed to apply to another.
- There is no well-established US prescribing label to define interactions, pregnancy safety or a dependable adverse-effect frequency.
A compound’s name, a purity claim or research-use labeling does not establish patient-ready quality, sterility or a reliable clinical outcome.
Regulatory context
Review is not an approval.
Selank appears in FDA’s withdrawn-nomination safety table. It was not one of the seven substance groups on the July 2026 agenda. A nomination change does not establish a treatment offer here.
Compounding review, permission to conduct research and approval of a finished drug are different decisions. This page is an invitation to learn and discuss appropriate care, not a statement that this compound can be supplied.

step clearer.
You can be curious about research and still choose a practical care path available today.
Is Selank the same as Semax?
No. They are different peptides with different research histories. Sharing a nootropic label online does not make their evidence, safety or proposed mechanisms interchangeable.
Does a study mean Selank is a proven anxiety treatment?
The small human study is worth reading, but its size and comparison design limit what can be concluded. It does not replace a broader clinical evidence base or an individual assessment.
Can I discuss Selank without committing to it?
Yes. Ask about the research and explain the goal behind your question. A clinician can discuss uncertainty and alternative care. An inquiry does not promise that Selank will be prescribed or supplied.
What if I mainly want help with anxiety?
Start with the symptoms and the changes you would like to see. Therapy and other established care may be appropriate. You can explore research while making decisions about care available now.
