The biological question.
Sermorelin is a synthetic fragment of growth-hormone-releasing hormone. It acts on pituitary signaling, which differs from directly administering human growth hormone. The response depends on the person and the functioning of the hormone system. A change in a laboratory hormone value is not automatically a change in strength, recovery, sleep or wellbeing. Understanding the mechanism is useful; selecting treatment requires a separate clinical assessment.
The story behind the name.
GEREF was approved for diagnostic use in 1990 and a pediatric growth indication in 1997. The manufacturer discontinued the products, and their approvals were withdrawn in 2009. FDA determined in 2013 that the withdrawal from sale was not for safety or effectiveness reasons. That finding concerns the historical products. It does not approve a compounded preparation or its proposed use for adult healthy aging.
Historical GEREF products had specific diagnostic and pediatric growth indications. That history does not establish modern adult wellness benefits. A small 1992 study in ten older men examined short-term growth hormone and IGF-I responses to GHRH-(1-29); it was not a demonstration of lasting functional improvement or a modern commercial program. Noom now describes a clinician-reviewed sermorelin program, but a competitor offer is evidence of its business model, not independent proof of effectiveness or a supply arrangement for Seine Bio.

Is sermorelin the same as HGH?
No. Sermorelin acts on growth-hormone-releasing signaling; somatropin is human growth hormone itself. Their mechanisms, evidence, legal pathways and clinical uses are different. A benefit or restriction associated with one should not be automatically transferred to the other.
Is compounded sermorelin FDA-approved?
No. Historical GEREF approval and FDA’s later withdrawal finding do not approve today’s compounded preparations. An actual offer requires confirmation of the exact formulation and lawful pharmacy route.
