Your hair. Your starting point.

Less product guessing.
A more considered plan.

You may be ready for treatment, or simply ready for a better explanation. Both are a good place to begin.

Understand what changed.

Bring the pattern you have noticed, how long it has been happening and what you have already tried. An assessment helps put those details in context.

Know your choices.

Get a clear explanation of prescription and OTC options, what each is intended to do, practical differences and the risks worth discussing.

Plan beyond day one.

A useful routine should come with instructions, realistic expectations and a conversation about follow-up. Ask how progress and tolerability will be reviewed.

Start with the person behind the concern

What you see in the mirror
deserves a thoughtful conversation.

Hair changes can become the thing you check every morning or notice in every photograph. You do not have to explain why they matter—or wait until the concern feels “big enough.”

Maybe your priority is a changing crown. Maybe it is finding a routine that feels manageable. Or you want someone to help you understand why a product you tried has not answered your questions. Start there.

Seine Bio helps make the first step straightforward: basic contact details, a conversation about the service and clear information before you commit.

Start with my hair-health goals

Know the treatment. Know the difference.

Finasteride. Minoxidil.
Options with distinct roles.

01

Oral finasteride

Prescription · Male pattern hair loss in men

Finasteride reduces conversion of testosterone to DHT, a hormone involved in male pattern hair loss. The 1 mg oral product is FDA-approved for this indication in men; it is not indicated for women.

Discuss suitability, fertility priorities, possible side effects and the ongoing routine with a clinician. Membership does not automatically qualify you for a prescription.

02

Topical minoxidil

OTC · Foam or solution, by product label

Topical minoxidil can help regrow hair in labeled patterns of gradual scalp thinning. Men’s and women’s products have different instructions; the right choice depends on the product and your circumstances.

Foam and solution are applied to the scalp. Review practical preferences and the selected label, rather than treating every minoxidil product as interchangeable.

Combination options

Individual review · Product-specific status

You can ask about a routine involving more than one treatment. A prescription tablet plus a separate OTC product differs from a compounded bottle containing several ingredients.

The clinician explains the actual formulation, its status, precautions and price before you decide. A combination is not automatically a better fit for everyone.

Understand compounded options →

Clear information before a decision

The formulation matters.

Compounded topical finasteride

No topical finasteride product, alone or combined with minoxidil, is FDA-approved. Compounded drugs do not undergo FDA premarket review for safety, effectiveness or quality.

Topical finasteride can enter the bloodstream. FDA reports include sexual and mood-related adverse effects, sometimes continuing after discontinuation. Irritation and accidental transfer to others, particularly people who may be pregnant, also require precautions. “Topical” does not mean risk-free. Read the FDA safety alert ↗

A / YOUR QUESTIONS

Ask what is in the product.

Before purchasing, ask for the name, ingredients, formulation, dispensing pharmacy, instructions and total price. Make sure you understand which ingredients are approved in that form and which product is compounded.

B / YOUR DECISION

Choose with the full picture.

A clear explanation should help you weigh the practical routine alongside benefits, limitations and risks. You can ask about alternatives and take time to understand the plan before agreeing to it.

Expectations that support a better conversation

Think in months.
Keep the review personal.

01 / THE TIMELINE

A gradual change takes time.

Oral finasteride labeling describes three months or more before benefit may be observed. Women’s 5% minoxidil foam labeling describes possible results at three months, with some women needing at least six. These are label timelines, not a promise of your result. Finasteride label ↗ · Women’s foam label ↗

02 / THE FOLLOW-UP

Review the routine as well as the result.

Ask how to recognize a response, when to follow up and what should prompt an earlier conversation. If a clinician requests comparison photographs, send them through the clinical intake process. Consistent photographs can make a review easier to discuss; they do not replace assessment.

Continued use may be needed to maintain treatment-related regrowth. Discuss a change in treatment with your clinician rather than increasing the amount or adding products yourself. Dermatologist guidance ↗

No treatment works for everyone. This page explains care options; it cannot establish the cause of your hair loss or predict regrowth.

Benefits and risks belong in the same conversation

Make the choice
with your health in mind.

Important treatment considerations

  • Finasteride: potential effects include decreased libido, erection or ejaculation problems. Postmarketing reports include persistent sexual symptoms, depression and suicidal thoughts. Discuss these risks and any new symptoms with your clinician. Prescribing information ↗
  • Pregnancy: finasteride is contraindicated in pregnancy. Anyone pregnant or potentially pregnant should not handle broken or crushed tablets. Label precautions ↗
  • Topical minoxidil: scalp irritation and unwanted facial hair may occur. Label warnings include chest pain, rapid heartbeat, dizziness and swelling; stop use and contact a doctor if these occur. Pregnancy or breastfeeding requires discussion before use. Product warnings ↗

A clinician should know your context.

  • Share current medicines, relevant health conditions, prior treatments and pregnancy or fertility considerations through clinical intake.
  • Sudden, patchy or painful hair changes, or an irritated or inflamed scalp, warrant assessment before trying an OTC regrowth product. When to seek medical advice ↗
  • Ask whether another evaluation or dermatology referral would better address your concern. You may need a different approach from the one you initially expected.
  • These points are a starting summary. Read the full information supplied with your selected medication.

Questions welcome.
Clear answers first.

Understand the product and the service. Then make the decision that fits you.

Ask about my hair-care plan →
Can I ask about finasteride, minoxidil or a combination?

Yes. Mention hair health when you inquire. The clinician considers your goals and medical circumstances, then explains the available formulation and whether it is appropriate. A request is not a prescription approval.

Is hair care only for men?

No. Seine Bio welcomes men and women with hair-health questions. Options depend on the cause and your clinical context. The product distinctions above matter: a treatment marketed for one group should not be assumed suitable for another.

Is oral minoxidil the same as OTC foam or solution?

No. Oral minoxidil is a prescription medicine approved for severe hypertension; hair-loss prescribing is off-label. It has important heart, blood-pressure and fluid-retention risks, including a boxed warning. It requires an individual clinical decision, rather than substitution for an OTC topical product. Oral minoxidil label ↗

Do I need membership to buy OTC topical minoxidil?

OTC minoxidil can be purchased without a prescription. Create a free account to manage purchases. Paid membership is optional and provides product savings and qualifying shipping benefits. Ask about the actual product and terms before deciding what you need.

Are shampoo and conditioner medical hair-loss treatments?

Review each product’s stated uses. Ekber shampoo and conditioner are offered for their listed cosmetic purposes; they are separate purchases. You do not need to buy a cosmetic bundle to send a care inquiry.

What does membership include, and what costs extra?
