What is Glutathione?
An antioxidant discussed in wellness settings. FDA warns against dietary-supplement-grade ingredients for injectable compounding because impurities and endotoxins can harm patients. This is not a recommendation for injectable use.

Overview
Glutathione is a tripeptide involved in cellular redox biology. Its familiar role as an endogenous antioxidant helps explain supplement and wellness interest. That background does not establish that every oral or injectable product improves health, removes toxins or provides a predictable cosmetic benefit. Route, formulation and the outcome being measured all matter.
Community Use
PeptideDosages publishes a named vial protocol; no exact Peptidepedia profile was verified. The publisher’s informal injection discussion should remain separate from oral supplementation research and any lawful clinical product. A community amount is not an approved universal antioxidant treatment schedule.
Doses, Durations & Cycles
Informal biohacking protocols and published regimens. Attributed website reports for education, not medical recommendations. Multiple publications document circulation; they do not establish a safe dose or validate a cycle.
| Route / formulation | Dose / reported phases | Frequency | Duration / break | Notes and source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subcutaneous | Start 100 mg per administration; the protocol section describes increases of about 50 mg every 1–2 weeks to 150–200 mg. | Start three times weekly; then two to three times weekly. The page separately mentions optional daily use in the first 1–2 weeks. | 4–8 weeks. Break: Optional 2–4 weeks between courses. | Published informal biohacking claim PeptideDosing.ca |
| Subcutaneous | 200–400 mg per session in the detailed subcutaneous table. | Two to three times weekly. | 8–12 weeks per cycle; the duration row also calls use ongoing with reassessment. Break: 2–4 weeks. | Published informal biohacking claim Hatter Labs |
Important context: The ranges and duration descriptions differ. Published claims do not establish an average dose or safe maximum.

The table keeps each route and source attached to its own claim. An oral randomized study used defined daily supplementation over six months. That protocol cannot be transferred to injections, interpreted as a personal maintenance cycle or assumed to describe all glutathione-containing products.
Research Findings
The randomized trial involved 54 nonsmoking adults and measured glutathione stores in blood and several cell types. It addressed supplementation and biochemical availability. It was not a trial establishing that injectable glutathione treats every fatigue concern, achieves skin lightening safely or substitutes for diagnosing a medical problem.
U.S. Approval & Access
Supplement marketing and patient-care injection are distinct regulatory contexts. FDA’s glutathione notice addresses unsuitable ingredient use in sterile products. A provider and pharmacy must verify the exact lawful formulation; the presence of glutathione in the body does not authorize any advertised preparation.
What It Does in the Body
Glutathione participates in antioxidant and redox systems. A mechanistic role is not the same as a demonstrated treatment effect from external supplementation. Reliable onset, peak clinical benefit and persistence after stopping are not established for broad wellness claims. A change in a glutathione measurement does not predict how an individual will feel.
Benefits & Reported Experiences
The oral study found changes in glutathione stores under its defined conditions. Those biomarker findings should not be relabeled as proof of detoxification, disease prevention or a guaranteed appearance change. When comparing an offer, ask which patient-relevant endpoint was studied and whether the route matches the product being discussed.
Side Effects & Risks
FDA described adverse events linked to compounded injectables made from inappropriate dietary-supplement-grade glutathione and endotoxin concerns. The oral trial cannot establish safety for that route. A complete injection-risk estimate is not supplied here, and unfamiliar symptoms after a clinical product warrant contacting the responsible care team.
Delivery Options
Oral supplementation and sterile injectable care are different interventions. This article supplies no infusion, injection or preparation technique. A product meant for consumption must never be assumed suitable for sterile use. Any clinical route must be selected and supervised through an appropriate lawful care and dispensing pathway.
Product Quality & Storage
The key FDA quality distinction is ingredient suitability for the intended route, including microbial and endotoxin risk. A food- or supplement-grade label is not a sterile-drug specification. Storage and beyond-use dating must come from the actual lawful formulation’s pharmacy instructions; no universal temperature or shelf life is invented here.
Combinations & Interactions
Adding glutathione to a vitamin, NAD+ or other infusion is a separate combination with its own compatibility and clinical questions. Familiar antioxidant names do not establish a safe mixture. No stacking ratio or timing is provided, and the actual medicines, supplements and treatment goals should be reviewed together.
Talking With Your Provider
A useful consultation begins with the symptom or goal rather than assuming an antioxidant deficit. The provider can review evidence and established alternatives, including whether supplementation has a reasonable role. That discussion should include measurable outcomes and costs without promising an injectable product, detoxification or a guaranteed cosmetic result.

Questions worth bringing to your appointment.
- Are there alternatives that address my goal?
- If treatment is appropriate, what monitoring and follow-up would I need?
- Could my health history or current medicines change the risks?
A clinician may recommend a different option—or no medication—after assessing your individual circumstances.
