SEINE BIO · Research, evidence & your next steps
Pigmentation science, in focus.
Melanotan II has produced pigmentation changes in small human studies. Discover the research behind the interest, how it differs from established skin-care options, and what to discuss before considering any treatment.
This catalog formulation is investigational, not an FDA approved treatment.
How Melanotan 2 works
Melanotan II is a synthetic melanocortin analogue with activity across more than one receptor. Its effects are not limited to pigmentation; small studies also reported effects relevant to sexual function and other bodily responses.
Why it’s getting attention
Early pilot studies were small and do not establish a safe long-term tanning treatment. Melanotan II is not FDA approved. FDA highlights impurity and immune-response concerns and reports of serious events including priapism and neurologic syndromes; melanoma case reports do not prove that the peptide caused the cancer.
Protocol reference at a glance
Reference context, not your prescription. No established patient protocol was identified for this formulation. The chart summarizes research context, not directions for use.
| Stage | What to expect from the evidence |
|---|---|
| Research setting | Small early human injection studies—not an established daily loading or lifelong maintenance plan. |
| Starting / loading phase | No validated routine-care starting or loading dose established for this exact formulation. |
| Standard dose / maximum | No validated standard patient dose or safe maximum established here. |
| Maintenance / cycles | No validated ongoing maintenance or cycling protocol identified. |
Presentation & administration
Early research included subcutaneous study injections. Nasal sprays are not established as a safer alternative, and their dose cannot be converted from an injection schedule. Do not use tanning beds or UV exposure to ‘activate’ a result.
Catalog presentation: Vial / Cartridge / Disposable Injection Pen. Listed strength options: 10 mg. One catalog unit is one selected presentation—not a box containing every pictured format. Total container content is not a personal dose, and an illustration does not verify an approved route or device.
Risks & common side effects
- Nausea, flushing and appetite-related effects have been reported. Persistent symptoms should be discussed with a clinician; do not add anti-nausea drugs or sleep through a reaction to continue a cycle.
- New or changing moles, uneven pigmentation and unexpected skin changes need clinical assessment. A tan is not sunscreen or evidence of protection from ultraviolet damage.
Tell your clinician about new or persistent symptoms and other medicines. Changes to treatment should be clinician-directed.
Other options worth discussing
For a cosmetic tan, externally applied sunless tanners or bronzers avoid the systemic melanotan approach. Follow product directions, avoid eye/mucosal exposure and inhalation, and continue sun protection; a sunless tan is not SPF. “More established” does not mean risk-free or suitable for everyone; a clinician should compare benefits, contraindications and your preferences.
When to seek help
An erection lasting four hours or longer is an emergency. Severe headache, confusion, seizures, breathing difficulty or fainting also requires emergency care.
Finished-product quality, concentration and route require verification. Review allergies, pregnancy, health conditions and other medicines with your clinician.
Do not wait for a portal reply in an emergency. Call 911 or seek emergency care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.
A few useful answers
Why not publish the blogs’ loading and maintenance doses?
The guides offer differing schedules without establishing a validated safe maximum or standard of care. They are background reading, not patient instructions.
Is nasal Melanotan II safe because it avoids needles?
No. Avoiding a needle does not establish safety, reliable absorption or a validated dose.
Does darker skin mean I can skip sunscreen?
No. Pigmentation is not a substitute for sun protection or assessment of changing skin lesions.
Does clinician authorization guarantee access?
No. Clinical appropriateness, lawful availability and a verified finished formulation must each be established. An Rx setting, luxury image or research-series label does not create regulatory approval.
