SEINE BIO · Research, evidence & your next steps
Targeted metabolic medicine. A specific clinical purpose.
Approved tesamorelin medicine reduces excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Explore the evidence behind this focused indication and how specialist assessment guides appropriate use.
Evidence for an approved medicine does not establish approval or equivalence of this catalog formulation.
How Tesamorelin works
Tesamorelin is a growth-hormone-releasing hormone analogue that stimulates endogenous growth hormone and increases IGF-1. The approved medicine Egrifta WR is indicated to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
Why it’s getting attention
The approved indication is narrow, and the reference label states that it is not indicated for weight-loss management. Egrifta WR and Egrifta SV have different dosing and are not interchangeable. A SEINE BIO formulation does not inherit either product’s approval or clinical evidence.
Protocol reference at a glance

| Stage | What to expect from the evidence |
|---|---|
| Initiation / routine dose | Egrifta WR: 1.28 mg subcutaneously once daily For its labeled adult HIV-lipodystrophy indication. |
| Loading phase | No separate loading regimen in this label Do not infer a larger initial dose from catalog strength. |
| Maintenance / maximum | Follow the labeled daily dose with clinician reassessment No established maximum or cycle for general anti-aging or this SEINE BIO formulation. |
| Follow-up | Assess clinical response, IGF-1, glucose and relevant risks Continuation depends on individualized benefit and safety. |
Presentation & administration
Egrifta WR’s reference route is daily subcutaneous administration. A cartridge or pen is not automatically an equivalent approved delivery system, and nasal delivery is not established by this label.
Catalog presentation: Vial / Cartridge / Disposable Injection Pen. Listed strength options: 5 mg; 10 mg; 20 mg. One catalog unit is one selected presentation—not a box containing every pictured format. Total container content is not a personal dose, and an illustration does not verify an approved route or device.
Risks & common side effects
- Reference-label concerns include increased IGF-1, fluid retention, joint symptoms, glucose intolerance and hypersensitivity. Persistent swelling, joint discomfort or increased thirst should be reviewed.
- The label includes contraindications involving disruption of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, active malignancy and pregnancy. Cancer history and glucose control require particular attention.
Tell your clinician about new or persistent symptoms and other medicines. Changes to treatment should be clinician-directed.
Other options worth discussing
For general weight management, discuss approved obesity treatments rather than transferring a HIV-lipodystrophy indication. For HIV-associated body changes, an HIV specialist can compare established treatment and monitoring options. “More established” does not mean risk-free or suitable for everyone; a clinician should compare benefits, contraindications and your preferences.
When to seek help
Breathing difficulty or facial swelling is an emergency; significant new symptoms or a suspected mass need prompt medical assessment.
Finished-product quality, concentration and route require verification. Review allergies, pregnancy, health conditions and other medicines with your clinician.
Do not wait for a portal reply in an emergency. Call 911 or seek emergency care for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.
A few useful answers
Will it target belly fat for anyone?
No. The approved evidence concerns a defined HIV-associated condition, not universal cosmetic fat reduction.
Can I apply the WR dose to another tesamorelin product?
No. WR, SV and other formulations must not be assumed interchangeable.
Does clinician authorization guarantee access?
No. Clinical appropriateness, lawful availability and a verified finished formulation must each be established. An Rx setting, luxury image or research-series label does not create regulatory approval.
