What is NAD+?
Its role in cellular biology attracts wellness interest, but that does not establish benefits from an injectable product. FDA has received reports of severe chills, shaking, vomiting and fatigue after NAD+ injections and warns about unsuitable ingredients in sterile compounding.

Overview
NAD+ is a cellular coenzyme, not a peptide. It participates in energy metabolism and other essential biochemical processes, which helps explain interest in aging and wellness circles. The fact that a molecule has an important cellular role does not by itself prove that an infusion, injection or supplement produces a meaningful benefit for every person.
Community Use
PeptideDosages publishes a named NAD+ injection protocol. No exact Peptidepedia profile was verified. This is an informal publisher’s description rather than an approved anti-aging regimen. Discussion of NAD+ must also distinguish it from precursor supplements such as nicotinamide riboside and NMN.
Doses, Durations & Cycles
Informal biohacking protocols and published regimens. Attributed website reports for education, not medical recommendations. Multiple publications document circulation; they do not establish a safe dose or validate a cycle.
| Route / formulation | Dose / reported phases | Frequency | Duration / break | Notes and source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subcutaneous | Weeks 1–2: 25 mg; weeks 3–4: 50 mg; weeks 5–6: 50 mg; week 7 onward: up to the source's 100 mg amount. | Twice weekly in weeks 1–4; three times weekly from week 5. | Ongoing; no total length for an intensive cycle is specified. Break: 4–8 weeks between intensive cycles. | Published informal biohacking claim PeptaBase |
| Subcutaneous or intramuscular | Separate alternatives: 30 mg daily, 70 mg three times weekly, or 105 mg twice weekly. The page specifies half of the selected amount during the first two weeks. | Daily, three times weekly, or twice weekly, according to the selected alternative. | Up to 12 weeks. Break: 4–6 weeks. | Published informal biohacking claim Inovva Science |
Important context: Schedules differ; the intensive-course length is missing from PeptaBase. This documents published claims, not a recommended regimen or independent clinical validation.

The table preserves source-specific route and schedule claims instead of creating a universal cycle. A 2019 pilot study examined a six-hour intravenous infusion and metabolite handling. A pharmacology observation from that study is not a personalized dose, maintenance plan or validated schedule for fatigue or longevity.
Research Findings
The pilot’s focus was changes in plasma and urinary NAD-related metabolites. That is a narrower question than improved cognition, function or lifespan. Different precursor, oral and infusion studies are not automatically interchangeable, and evidence for raising a biochemical measurement should remain separate from evidence for a clinical outcome.
U.S. Approval & Access
The sources here do not establish an FDA-approved NAD+ anti-aging indication. FDA’s sterile-compounding notice addresses ingredient suitability and reported harm. The legality of a particular compounded product requires an actual pharmacy and provider assessment; supplement availability cannot establish injectable authorization.
What It Does in the Body
NAD+ participates in redox reactions and cellular enzyme systems. Its biochemical importance is the research rationale, not proof that more administered NAD+ is always better. Reliable clinical onset, peak benefit and duration for general wellness have not been established. Infusion time and changes in metabolites are not equivalent to a predictable “energy effect.”
Benefits & Reported Experiences
Biochemical changes can show that an intervention interacts with metabolism, but they do not establish better health, recovery or slowed aging. The useful question is whether a specific formulation produces a patient-relevant benefit that outweighs its risks and costs. The pilot study cannot settle that broader question.
Side Effects & Risks
FDA has received reports of severe chills, shaking, vomiting and fatigue after NAD+ injectables, sometimes requiring treatment; its notice identifies endotoxin concerns. These reports should not be interpreted as either a complete rate estimate or proof that every formulation has the same risk. Product quality and clinical oversight remain central.
Delivery Options
Intravenous, injectable and oral products differ in formulation, exposure and evidence. A gummy or precursor capsule does not reproduce an infusion study, and an infusion result does not validate another route. This article provides no home-infusion, injection or preparation instructions; any clinical route requires an appropriate responsible provider.
Product Quality & Storage
FDA warns that food-grade ingredients are unsuitable for sterile compounding without appropriate processing. A purity claim alone does not exclude microbial or endotoxin contamination. No universal NAD+ storage rule is established here: a lawful dispensing source must provide formulation-specific conditions, beyond-use dating and an accountable contact for concerns.
Combinations & Interactions
A mitochondrial or longevity theme does not validate a stack with SS-31, MOTS-C, hormones or other infusions. Each combination introduces its own exposure and attribution questions. This page does not supply stacking timing, and a provider should review actual medicines and supplements rather than assuming shared cellular language establishes compatibility.
Talking With Your Provider
If fatigue, brain fog or recovery is the concern, begin with assessment of the actual symptom and possible causes. A consultation can compare established evaluation and care with the limits of NAD+ evidence. A worthwhile plan considers measurable benefit, appropriate product quality and follow-up without promising an infusion or an anti-aging outcome.

Questions worth bringing to your appointment.
- Are there alternatives that address my goal?
- If treatment is appropriate, what monitoring and follow-up would I need?
- Could my health history or current medicines change the risks?
A clinician may recommend a different option—or no medication—after assessing your individual circumstances.
